THE RAINY SEASON
THE SEASON I LIKE MOST
The rainy season is my favourite season. I eagerly wait for it after the hot, unbearable summer. It brings coolness and comfort. It begins in the month of June and lasts up to the month of September. During these days the sky is full of dark clouds. Sometimes there is lightning and thunder in the sky.
Farmers welcome the rains. They plough their fields and sow seeds. The crops grow and the farmers look forward to a good harvest.
The children are happy. Small children enjoy running, playing and getting themselves wet. They sail paper boats in the streams of flowing water. They sing rain songs and enjoy splashing water on one another. The rivers, ponds and wells are full of water. It is green and beautiful everywhere. Green carpet of grass covers the face of Mother Earth.
Sometimes there is heavy rain. It pours and pours. The roads, subways, railway lines go under water. The streets become muddy and full of water. Everything comes to a standstill. Heavy and continuous rainfall causes a lot of damage. Rivers get flooded and destroy houses, crops and everything. All the same, the rainy season is the most important season in India.
